This is a website for listing of RFPs - Requests for Proposal from all over the world, covering almost every aspect of business and industry. The categories can be added to, modified and deleted as needed. In addition, there is a subscription service wherein anyone wanting to receive notifications of new listings in their selected categories, can subscribe to.
Currently both services are set-up as free - free listings and free subscriptions. Both services are ready to be charged for as you may decide - pay for listings, pay for subscriptions. You can set and increase or decrease prices as necessary. Basically, others buy and sell, you collect the fees.
What exactly the site does?
BiddingOpps.com is a marketplace where large buyers can list their RFPs and sellers or bidders interested in such RFPs can browse through the listings and contact the buyer directly for a project or supply requirement of interest to them. We have designated it as a place for “large projects and supplies of $100,000 above”. This, however, is arbitrary. You may decide to make it a place for all RFPs irrespective of value or increase or decrease the value as you think is better.
Persons interested in listing their RFPs are required to register at the site first. He/She can then publish a detailed description of their RFP - along with pictures, if necessary. Their contact e-mail or, if they decide not to disclose it, a hyperlink to contact them, is published with the listing. The budget for the RFP is shown for prospective bidders to take notice. A listing typically is for a period of 180 days (set by Admin) unless the owner decides to remove it earlier or for some reason the Admin decides to delete it. A hyperlink to the website of the person making the listing is also provided. The number of times a listing was viewed is shown and gets updated automatically.

How much money can the site make?
To make the site popular, listings are free for the time being. Later it is intended to charge for each listing. Let’s say you decide to charge $25 per listing for 180 days. A 100 listings per month (which is no figure at all considering the size of the market) will bring in $2,500 in a month; a 500 listings (which too is miniscule) will bring in $12,500; so on so forth. Depending on the exigencies of the market, you can increase or decrease the fee as needed. You can have featured listings and charge a higher price. Please note that buyers of large projects spend thousands of dollars to publicize their project RFP. They advertise in newspapers and magazines like International Herald Tribune and The Economist. Putting an advertisement in such places cost a small fortune.
In addition, you can charge for subscriptions which are currently free. Anyone would gladly pay a few hundred dollars for a year’s subscription to make sure they never miss a RFP posted on the site. Again, if you have a 100 subscribers each paying $100, you receive $10,000 in a year for which you do not need to do anything; with 500 subscribers, it comes to $50,000 in a year.
Please, however, be very clear. To make money you must market your service. Initially you may need a lot of effort to popularize the site. To start with, you may even search other sources and post projects on the site on your own. Once the site starts getting popular, viral marketing will set in. The site, from there onwards, will market itself on its own. And you can make this money with no overheads. All you pay is for hosting and renewal of the domain name.
What are the site’s special features?
Built using PHP scripting with a powerful MySQL database, the site is totally manageable from a browser based Admin. You can manage users, listings, subscriptions, configuration of the site - all from your web browser.
Payment system can be via PayPal.com, 2CheckOut.com or another payment processor. You set the minimum amount a user should pay and once the payment is received, corresponding credit(s) get reflected in the user’s account via the automated payment gateway. If you decide to charge $25 for a listing, the minimum a user must pay is $25. He/She may pay a higher amount for listing multiple RFPs and may decide to pay $125 or $250. Five or ten credits, as per payment, is updated in their account for 5 or 10 listings.
The period for which a listing can remain on the site can be set from the Admin. You may set an uniform period for all listings or let users choose the period for which they would like to list. You can also charge for listings based on how long they are to remain on the site. You can set subscription period of, say, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months. You can charge for the service, say, $100 per year or as you deem fit.
Users have their own control panel from where they can manage their listings and subscriptions. Users can add new listings, modify existing ones and delete the ones that are not required. RFPs accomplished and no more open for bidding can remain on the site and marked as such, or deleted. Similarly, subscribers can manage their subscriptions - add to their subscribed categories and delete from their subscribed categories.
